Groundlings Theatre (formerly known as The Old Beneficial Building) is located within a beautiful Georgian building in Portsmouth that is steeped in history and charm. With our own car park and superb transport links, we are an ideal venue suitable for a wide selection of events and occasions.
In the past we have been hired for rehearsals, parties, conferences; even larping.
WEDDINGS
Groundlings Theatre is a popular wedding venue where you can host both the ceremony and reception or just the reception.
Our staff are experienced wedding coordinators and will able to assist in planning your perfect day.
For a simple hire fee, there are a number of cost-effective options available with a flexible payment system and our services to help coordinate the day included in the price.
With the registry office located only minutes away, experienced staff, we are dedicated to making your day special. We believe our unique venue will make your day stand out and be one that you and your guests never forget.
PARTIES & CORPORATE EVENTS
We have different spaces available to hire, suitable for all different events and occasions, such as birthdays and anniversaries.
PARANORMAL INVESTIGATIONS HIRE
We have hosted many Ghost Hunters and Paranormal Investigators and have received some great feedback as we continue to be remarked as one of Portsmouth’s most haunted buildings.
PRODUCTION HIRE
The theatre can be hired for a ticketed performances for a set fee. Please contact us to find out more information and make an application.
Please note, hire is not guaranteed, and productions will be considered as part of our wider programming plans.
REHEARSAL SPACE
Need a rehearsal space for your upcoming performance? Maybe a rehearsal room for an R&D session, or band practice? Our versatile building is perfect for whatever you rehearsal needs are.

COSTUME HIRE
Groundlings Theatre has a wardrobe department with a range of different theatrical costumes all of which are available to hire.
